New Years Resolutions!

I love my job! I love it more and more as each year passes! The New Year is upon and it is now time to reflect on what you have done in the past year and create you resolutions about what you will do the coming year! I love teaching this concept to my kiddos!

I always use the book, Squirrel's New Years Resolution! My kids love this book. We review what a resolution is. then we enjoy the story.

Click on the photo below for a link to the book on Amazon!

Here is a video reading of the story as well!

After we listened to the story and discussed what resolution is and what did squirrel finlly say his resolution was, we went back to our seats and made self portraits and wrote down our resolutions!

To make the self portraits, I gave the kids 4 pieces of paper. 1 8 X 11- skin color paper, 2 8X11 any color construction paper and a 12X18 sheet of construction paper.

Here are the steps:
1- Place the 12 X 18 sheet of paper tall like a tree.
2. Choose a piece of 8X11 paper and cut it into a hill- this is the shirt. Glue at the bottom of the paper.
3. Take the skin color and cut it into the shape of your head. Glue it in top of the hill. You now have a head and body.
4. With your final piece of construction paper, cut it into a triangle for your New Year's hat., Glue in the top of your head.
5. Draw your hair and facial features.
6. Write Happy New Year on your shirt.
7. With an exacto knife cut a small circle in the mouth and push the blower through.

Here are the final products and I have to admit, I love how they are all different!!

Here are the resolutions of my kiddos:

Our paper started off with Bye Bye 2015, hello 2016. This year I am going to:

Here is how they finished this prompt!

Isha: read words better.

A Brand New Year.....

I can not believe that it is already 2016! The New Year has officially begun! So my first of many posts for 2016 is my January Currently! I am linking up again with the awesome Farley from Oh'Boy 4th Grade for her monthly Currently linky!

So here is what I am Currently doing:)

Listening: I am listening to the fire crackle in the pellet stove and a rerun of NCIS is on the television.

Loving: I am loving the peace and quiet that I am currently experiencing. This is something I do not have often!

Thinking: Christmas Break is soon to be over and I have a lot to do for school. This is partly because when I traveled to Florida for Christmas to see my family, I brought my computer case. When I got there, (I drive and it took 22 hours!) I opened my case and I left the computer at home in Delaware! So needless to say I did not get any work done that  I had planned!!

Wanting: My tree and decorations to magically put themselves away! I just do not want to do it!

Needing: To write my lesson plans, create some new centers and smart board presentations!

One Little Word: BALANCE- I have got to learn to balance my home life and school life. Being a single mom, I find this hard to do a lot of the time!

Well there you have it, My first Currently of 2016!

Happy New Year, Everyone!

Here is my December Currently:

Listening: I am listening to the Green Bay-Detroit football game!

Loving: I love that it has stopped raining. It has rained for the past couple of days and it has been dreary and miserable!

Thinking: I have soooo much to do before my presentation on Saturday at the Delaware Great Starts Conference! I am a little nervous because it is my first BIG conference to present at!

Wanting: I want a hot chocolate sooooo bad!

Needing: To go to sleep since I have to go to work in the morning. Thank goodness, it is a professional development day!

Real or Faux- I have a fake tree because my daughter and I are not normally here for Christmas. We leave at the beginning of Christmas Break and go to Florida!

Awesome TShirts

I love t-shirts! I can not get enough of them! I feel they are just one of the best pieces of clothing ever created!!!!

Anyways, there is an amazing company who creates awesome t-shirts! They do custom designs and they have little companies off of them that create awesome t-shirts for teachers.

This company is A+ Images and I am so glad that they are a company who work with bloggers. They had a special blogger program where they designed a t-shirt for free for bloggers.

Here is my t-shirt:

Isn't this shirt awesome! I created the logo for my blog and they made this awesome t-shirt. I have worn this and washed it several times and it has not faded.

I highly recommend them for any custom t-shirt. So please visit

I promise you won't be sorry!
