Valentine's Day 0n Tuesday!

Well, we finally got to celebrate Valentine's day even though we had a 2 hour delay due to the weather. Thanks to Mother Nature, we were out of school on Thursday due to snow. Friday was a professional development day and Monday was President's Day! So my little Kindergators finally got to celebrate Valentine's Day today, Tuesday, February 19th!

We read four books today! They loved these books!

But the two they loved the most were:

The children were allowed to choose paper of their choice and make their very own Love Monster! I provided no sample because them to make their own monster!
Here is what they created and I have to say I love them all!!!!!

The kids also grabbed a handful of candy heart erasers and graphed them!

The kids loved this! I found the erasers and the awesome red heart plates for the kids to sort their hearts on at Target!

We also had an estimation station! The kids had to estimate how many hearts were in our bucket. The closest estimate got a Valentine Day book to bring home and keep!

Here is a group making their estimations!

The hearts were found at the Dollar Tree. The box to the side was found at Really Good Stuff. This box was decorated by the kids and was their mailbox for their valentines.

Here is the link for these awesome mailboxes:

The children also made heart get well cards for a classmate who had surgery today.

To end our day, we passed out our valentine's and watched Be My Valentine Charlie Brown!

Not too bad for a day that was shortened by two hours!

  1. Isn't it fun to see what they can create without a teacher version to "copy"!
