This week I want to share the book, 11 Experiments that Failed written by Jenny Offill and Nancy Carpenter.
This book is a great read! It is about a young girl who wants to be a scientist. So this is in essence her science journal of all of the experiments she has performed. Of course, they are not successful and she documents why.
Here is an example of one of her experiments:
Her question is Do dogs like to be covered in glitter?
Her hypothesis was that dogs like everything!
So on the next page, it chronicles the steps she took to perform this experiment and the results!
The steps she took were:
1. Call Dog
2. Cover with glitter
3. Let dog go.
And what were the results?
The dog ran away and her yard was now pink and sparkly!
This is a great book to use to teach our young scientists the steps one goes through when performing a science experiment. It is also a fun way to see that not all experiments are successful and that it is ok if they fail. Like I always say we do not FAIL we have a First Attempt In Learning!
There are 10 more entertaining experiments in this book!

Thanks for sharing this book. Pinned to my science board.
