Snow!!!

Well, We finally got some snow this weekend! Not a lot but it did stick! It started on Friday, when we were leaving school after a long inservice day. This snowy weather has determined that this week we will be doing The Snowy Day. I will post samples of their work! It is conference week and we have three half days so a fun week is needed!!!

Here is my daughter enjoying the little bit of snow that remained after Friday!

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr

I know it is past the day but since I just began this blog, I wanted to share what my kids did for this special day.

Here are their pictures they created of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We read the book, Thank You, Dr. King by Bill Cosby. They then followed me and created their Dr. Martin Luther King Jr pictures. This activity is always my favorite because although they have the same amount and size paper, every picture is different. These follow me activities are very telling!

Another activity I love to do to teach my children about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., is to read the book, The Crayon Box that Talked. This book is about a box of crayons who do not get along. A little girl buys the box of crayons and creates a beautiful picture. The crayons learn that although they are all different, they are all needed to create a picture. This activity teaches the students that we need everyone around us to get along to make the world a better place. This is a great way to teach this lesson to Kindergarteners. They then get a crayon to decorate to make it look like them. We put them in a big box and hang them in the hallway. The students are very proud of this activity!

Storybook Character Day

We had storybook character day today. Here I am with the students in my room that did dress up! I was my favorite Where's Waldo but unfortunately most of my kids did not know who Waldo was :(
The ones who participated enjoyed it tremendously!
