The King of ing

We learned about the king of ing today.  We made crowns and king of ings.  The students lived wearing the king hat and making new words! 

Flamingos!

We read the zoo mystery called Stickler On Stilts. I read to them the first three clues and then they had to think what the mystery animal was.  They then drew what they thought.  After we talked about what they thought it was,  I read the rest of the book.  They loved it!

We then made a can,  have,  are chart that I got from a unit by Kim Adsit!

The facts they remembered were awesome!

We then made our own flamingos! They came out really cute! !!

Dollar store finds!!!

I found these at the dollar store for the kids to act out five speckled frogs and five little bumble bees! I love the dollar store! !! These are great for acting out word problems!

What if you had animal teeth?

We began our activity for opinion writing today. We had to choose what animal teeth we would want to have. The choices were based on the book, What if you had Animal Teeth? They kids then made themselves with their teeth choice and wrote why it would be great to have those teeth. Tomorrow we will read the book! They were very excited and can not wait to read it!

Instagram Experience, hopefully a successful one!!

Bugs, Bugs and More Bugs

We have live ladybugs and a praying mantis egg ready to hatch in our classroom. The kids are so excited!

Just a little side note,  if you do get live lady bugs make sure they are dormant before attempting to put them in their dome.  I followed the instructions and placed them in the fridge for 30 minutes.  But when I went to put them in the dome,  they began to fly all over the classroom.  We had 30 ladybugs flying everywhere and who comes in as my kids and I are trying to catch the ladybugs?  My administrator to do a walk through.  That was an experience for her!

The praying mantis egg is amazing.  We are anxiously watching it.  There are 75 to 200 in that egg! !! That will be an awesome sight.  I will keep you posted! !!
